Monthly Meetings

Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month, January to November, including public holidays. We meet at the Red Hill Community Sports Club (Ithaca Bowls Club) at 22 Fulcher Road, Red Hill (next to the Broncos Club).

Our Story

60 Years of History

A rich heritage of passion for African Violets

Founded in 1966

The African Violet Society of Queensland was founded on February 28, 1966, when thirteen people met at the Canberra Hotel to talk about their plants. What started as a friendly meeting grew into an official society.

1966 ● Founded by 13 enthusiasts
1967 ● First Constitution drawn up
1968 ● First Newsletter produced
1973 ● First Annual Show held
1986 ● Society became Incorporated
